Haute and Naughty Lashes

It's love, it really is. Upon my monthly beauty purchases I stopped by my local MAC counter and picked up something very exciting. MAC's new Haute and Naughty Lash Mascara. Now if you know me personally you would know that I'm a faithful believer in MAC mascara's. I've tried and tested a large number of their ever growing collection and they have never failed to impress. As it is my natural eyelashes are very curly and aren't particularly long so what i'm looking for in a mascara is an all in one wonder product that is able to define, lengthen and volumise giving me that glam factor. On the odd occasion, I will opt for falsies (fake lashes) however on a day to day glamour basis, I need something that's going to add that extra drama to my lashes. That being said, I've composed a 3 step review on what the product is like and why I now think it may become a staple in my everyday makeup collection.

1) It has what appears to be a double lid so when i first saw it, I was a little confused and wasn't aware that it was a 2 in 1. Now this I feel may have been a fault of the makeup artist who introduced me to the mascara as he didn't quite explain the real reason why this product was so great. One lid is pink and the second is a sparkly purple.

2) the first pink lid comes with a relatively fat brush which made my eyes light up with joy because i LOVE fat brushes although when i applied it to my eyelashes, it created more of a natural separating and defining effect. Still slightly skeptical, I ventured on to the second 'layer' as it were and opened the second lid.

3) WOW is all i could say after applying the second coat from the second section. Using the second section created thick, dramatic exaggerated glam lashes... just what the beauty doctor ordered! What made me love it even more is that no more than one coat per section is needed to finish the look. Usually i find myself clumping on numerous coats of mascara just to achieve the desired look... not this time!

All in all i'd rate this product a whopping 4.5 out of 5 Stars. The only reason it didn't achieve 5 is because of the fact that the packaging is quite difficult to wrap your head around as it is essentially the same brush that's in both the sections. For those with straight eyelashes i think it may be useful to apply before you curl you eyelashes because it will enable a better hold on the curl.

Note this mascara doesn't ACTUALLY have two brushes! It's one brush that has been cleverly modified within the tube to create two different looks.

When thinking about what I should actually write about in my first post i struggled quite a bit. After much deliberation I decided it made sense to perhaps write an introduction of some sort to give incite into what my intentions for starting this blog actually are. My name is Ijeoma and I'm a Beauty-holic! Now I'm not going to sit here like some people and tell you I've been applying face cream and wearing eyelashes from age 3 because that would be an absolute lie!! To tell you the truth I haven't always been interested in the beauty world but roughly 5 years ago I started wearing makeup properly and since then my interest has turned into more an addiction/hobby. I've gone through phases where my obsession has been specific to a particular area such as hair care or makeup but generally speaking I am interested in all aspects of beauty. I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the vast majority of products that are available on the market and have slowly found myself falling into the product junkie pitfall, buying any and every item in the hope that it will be better than the last. As a black female, I have discovered through trial and error however that not all products are designed for women with my my skin type, tone or hair texture and am constantly on a quest to find the ultimate beauty product. I am in no way a professional in this industry but just thought it would be fun to share my love all things beauty with the world!
